Speed and efficiency are of the upmost importance when it comes to gathering market intelligence — both how quickly you surface relevant information and how quickly you produce and share insights. At Cronycle, we’re constantly working to give you new ways to shave off precious days, hours, and even minutes in your process so you’re not only the first to know about new and emerging information but also the first to inform your audiences about important developments and trends.
As you know, Cronycle already offers multiple ways to contextualize content so that the whole team can collaborate and stay in sync. With Cronycle, redundant work is eliminated, and insights can be pushed to prospects, customers, internal teams, and other stakeholders quickly. One feature you’ve probably already discovered is annotations, which allow you to highlight words, sentences, or entire passages in an article that deserve attention.
Our newest update to the Cronycle platform makes it easier than ever to generate insights from annotations. The new functionality allows you to not only highlight key passages and append them to summaries, but to extract them as rich text notes for one-click insights production and sharing. In addition, it can all be done right from your iOS device!
With these new insights extraction options, you’ll reduce time discovering, contextualizing and sharing insights:
- Append extracted text to summary – a proven time-saver – NEW!
- Extract as rich text note – NEW!
- On-the-go annotating with iOS – NEW!
Plus, we’ve updated the design of the annotation option box for an even smoother workflow.
While working within an article, simply use your cursor to highlight the text you wish to annotate and click on “Annotate”. The new annotation dialog box is then displayed, and from there, it’s easy to extract the text in whatever way is most useful for you. Append extracted annotation to summary
Often, a few sentences in an article will grab your attention—perhaps because they encapsulate the value of the article, articulate an important idea, or communicate critical new information. Now, once you have annotated a noteworthy passage, you can append it to the summary in one click!
The ability to append passages to summaries is extremely valuable, as summaries remain visible on the board and are published with the article.

Extract annotation as rich text note
You can now quickly extract annotations from across one or even several articles and use the extracted text to collate important sections and from there use it in a variety of ways, such as for drafting original content. This feature can cut your writing time dramatically and really accelerate your speed to insights.
The extracted quotes appear as new notes on your board. To keep track of the quote’s source, the original link is added inline with the domain. You can now also visually identify these notes as quotes with rich text formatting. Rich text formatting for notes makes it possible to write research briefs, draft original content, and organize notes more effectively by styling your notes with headings, quotations, inline links, bolded text, colors and more.

Annotations can be extracted into notes that can be enriched, shortened, titled, etc. You can extract annotations from two places:
1 – Extract a single annotation from the board content reader

2 – Extract from the insights view
You can extract annotations from one single article or from across several articles that are grouped in a Story Arc.

The extracted notes appear on the board, ready to edit. From the board, you can publish them to any of the available options (WordPress, newsletters, MS Teams, Slack, social media, etc.), except to RSS.

Improved annotations
To make the extraction of annotations both easier and faster, we’ve improved the annotation toolbar and options window displayed when you are viewing content on a board. It is now a simple click to add or change the annotation label, extract the quote, or add to the summary.

From the insights view within boards, you may now also view any notes you added to your annotations:

Accelerate insights extraction on the go
Included in the latest update, we added the ability to add, modify and remove annotations on the go right from the Cronycle iOS application (available for iPhone and iPad).

With more ways to accelerate insights extraction, your team will generate more content more quickly and using fewer resources. You’ll be the first to know, and so will your audiences and stakeholders! If you have any questions or need support using these new features, please contact us so we can help.
