This monthly infographic update shows the evolutions in Cronycle Topics and Expertise Network, for May 2021.
What is a Cronycle Topic?
A Cronycle topic is a smart aggregation of information combining artificial intelligence and human expertise. Cronycle analyzes content from millions of online sources identified by our expertise network, build out semantics, and surface information relevant to each Topic.
Topics evolutions for May 2021
- 40,697 Topics with communities
- 87,874 Topics in total, including locations, events, and alternate forms
What are event Topics?
The Cronycle Expertise Network helps us identify the communities surrounding approximately 40k+ Topics. In addition, Cronycle is able to capture Event Topics for those one-off events that do not have an ongoing, representative community.
For example, Covid-19 in India is an event Topic without a prior community. Because this Topic reaches across many aspects of life, any community would be extremely disparate, which would lead to noise and adversely affecting relevance. As a user, when you add an event to a feed, please remember to include keyword filters to help better focus Event Topics on the specific aspects you are looking to glean.
On the other hand, recurring events such as the Olympic games do, in fact, have a community which allow us to accurately hone in on the most relevant developments automatically.
New Topics
This month, we have added 504 new Topics. Two worth mentioning include (as well as the number of influencers within the community):
Gene Regulation – 70
Zoonotic Diseases – 56
Why add new Topics?
We create new Topics when our system identifies emerging subjects, or when new topics are specifically requested by our customers, or to improve clarity of our results.
For May 2021 topic evolutions, the first Topic mentioned above, Gene Regulation, has a very relevant community of scientists, with Harmit S. Malik, the Twitter hub Gene Regulation, Jonathan Pritchard, Hopi Hoekstra, and about 50 more individuals and organizations. As a result, articles we surface on this Topic turn out to be highly qualitative.
The second Topic, Zoonotic Diseases is very timely as scientists, research centers, governmental organizations, and the scientific press actively share information to better understand and prevent this threat.
What is the Cronycle Expertise Network?
When it comes to looking for specific information, it’s best to seek out sources that have the most knowledge, expertise and experience on the given topic. Many of these experts connect together in loose topical communities, and are constantly being monitored by their pairs. Cronycle users these interactions to identify influencers and communities that make up the Cronycle Expertise Network.
